Women & Mental Disorders
Sober Living For Women. Reset, Refresh & Energize
Are you looking for the perfect place to transition out of treatment? Is it possible your addiction may have been a result of the desire to self-medicate a mental illness? If so, sitting just blocks away from the glistening sands of South Palm Beach, Luna Cottage is ready for you. For women in early sobriety, this private halfway house provides all the comfort of home while offering group activities, group meetings and individual support. Some of the activities offered include: organic gardening, dance, hula hooping, yoga, meditation, nutrition classes and learning life skills and coping skills.
Our primary focus is on recovery from drugs or alcohol, but for many women, addiction is the result of underlying mental health disorders. Depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and eating disorders are all very common among women. You may have a mental disorder and not even know it. Many people live a lifetime, unaware that they suffer from mental illness. Others deny it, and try to mask the symptoms by self-medicating. A few even develop mental illnesses because of their drug abuse. Whether your mental problems are a result of a drug addiction, or your addiction was a result of a mental disorder, if you are a woman, Luna Cottage is here to help you.
Imagine yourself, sitting out in the spacious back yard, under a coconut tree, writing in your journal. Or take advantage of our convenient location and spend time relaxing at the beach. Whatever your specific needs, this is the best place for you to recover from your addiction. Learn to love yourself, learn to take care of yourself, and learn to be responsible for your actions. We will supply you with emotional support, professional staff and plenty of recreation, in addition to other resources on mental health disorders and for maintaining mental health. We require participation in a 12-step program, which includes regular meetings, a sponsor and a home group. There are opportunities to socialize and occasions to isolate. You can also get a job, volunteer for a local charity or go to school while living here.
